Good to Know

The activities in the Summer boxes cover the following learning objectives….

Year R – To be able to give the correct sound for a grapheme, hear and say sound patterns, write captions, read and spell some high frequency words and words with the graphemes ar, or, ur, ow and oi.

Year 1 – To be able to write capital letters, recognise compound words, use question marks and to write sentences with a capital letter, a full stop and leaving spaces between words.

Year 2 – To be able to spell words with the suffixes -s, -ies, -es, recognise different types of sentences, understand contractions and use noun phrases

Year 3 – To be able to add the prefixes un-, dis-, mis- to words and use subordinating conjunctions. To understand and use the homophones there, their and they’re and the role in sentences of adjectives, verbs and adverbs.
